The Peralta Auction is… Going Once, Going Twice, Going Where?

Uptown exterior 325Mark your calendars for March 6…This year the Peralta Auction will be held offsite. Kids will have their own party at Peralta while the parents whoop it up at one of Oakland’s coolest, and most unusual venues. After much discussion, a survey, and touring about 12 different places, the auction committee settled on the Uptown Body & Fender located on 26th, between Telegraph and Broadway. It has just the right combination of space and panache. There’s lots of room to display things and for parents (and guests of parents) to mill about, so no more crowded multipurpose room. Peralta is lucky to be chosen by Uptown owner Giovanna Tanzillo who opens up her venue to a select few nonprofits in the area. And here’s some good news: It’s free.

The Peralta Uptown Auction will be for adults only, unlike past auctions at Peralta. Alcohol will be served. And while the kids will be missed, the rest of the school year is chock-a-block with community wide events on campus—this will be a nice chance to see each other in a different environment and enjoy an adult night out. The goal here is to raise as much money as possible (especially given the likelihood of losing our Title 1 money). The committee is trying something new, and it will be exciting to see how it goes.
