Holiday Art Faire and Auction

Peralta Elementary Parent Teacher Group (PPTG) invites you to join us for our annual Holiday Auction on Saturday, December 8, 2-6pm at Peralta Elementary School, 460 – 63rd St. @ Dana, Oakland.

WHY GO TO THE AUCTION?
It’s a wonderful celebration of Peralta with friendly people all having fun while raising money for a good cause – OUR KIDS!

THE EVENT
There will be Peralta performers to start the Silent Auction off with a bang. Then just when you think the Silent Auction has fulfilled all of your needs, the Live Auction begins! There will be free warm beverages to take the chill off that you can enjoy while viewing student artwork in the courtyard.

AUCTION BASICS

Who comes to the event? — Everyone. One of the nice things about Peralta’s auction is that there are no entry tickets to buy. Invite the grandparents, your neighbors, invite your running buddies – the more the merrier. No dates are required. There are no table assignments so you can hang out with your friends – new and old.

What to wear? — Feel free to wear whatever you want! It’s a great opportunity to dress up if you don’t often get the chance and to dress down if you do it all the time! You can even come dressed as your favorite game piece character if you wish (any Ms. Scarlets out there?).

What should I bring? — You should bring a checkbook, cash or credit card to pay for your purchases at the end of the event. Bring your favorite holiday dish to share with your Peralta family. (Also, please note that we will be doing pre-registration on Friday Dec. 7th before and after school, look for us on the playground.)

I can’t afford to spend a lot. Why bother going? — There are auction items in every price range, from kiddie train rides to designer jewelry. The auction committee makes sure that there are numerous items to choose from and something for everyone. Every dollar counts!! However, even if you can’t spend one cent, come out. Laughing and talking with others is free. Build new relationships and enjoy old ones. Drink beverages, view some artwork, listen to some music – relax and enjoy your day. Childcare is provided.

Bidding — The first part of the event is the Silent Auction. (Don’t worry, you will get to talk!) When you arrive you will be assigned a unique bid number, which you will use throughout the event to place bids on items you want. Each auction item will be displayed with its own bid sheet. This sheet will contain the item description and the minimum bid price. To place a bid, write your bid number CLEARLY on the bid sheets. Watch out for table closing times - they happen throughout the event, so be sure to re-check on something you really want. Review your program and create a wish list to help with decisions. Remember that at the end of the silent auction you may not know how many, if any, items you have won. Keep a close eye on those items that you are most interested in – otherwise someone might sweep in at the last moment and make a higher bid.

The second part of the event is the Live Auction. This is where you get to play and have fun with your friends. The live auction is very fast paced and bidding wars often ensue. Bid to win, but know your limits. And we have a game in store.

Most of All: The auction is a celebration and appreciation for our community that is Peralta Elementary School. The fact that merchants, parents, teachers, staff, neighbors, friends have given time, energy, resources and merchandise to benefit our children is incredibly special. We gain the beginnings and strengthening of fond friendships, shared laughter, great fun and lasting memories. Hope to see you there and good luck with the bidding.
