Peralta Auction
Rev It Uptown for Peralta’s Auction -
Saturday, March 6, 2010 | 5-9pm
This year we’ll be holding our first off-site auction at the Uptown Body & Fender at 401 26th Street in one of Oakland’s most happening neighborhoods. Uptown Owner Giovanna Tanzillo, has graciously opened up her establishment for our party! Don’t let the name fool you — this is no ordinary body shop. It doubles as and art gallery and was even featured recently in World Architecture News.
The auction will be an adults-only event. Your $10 ticket will get you a gourmet dinner. Alcoholic drinks can be purchased as well. Invite friends, grandparents and extended family! Childcare will be provided at Peralta for $5 (see details below). You can buy tickets online here. Scroll down for donation forms.
In addition to a silent and live auction featuring hundreds of donated goods and services (see below for highlights or download PDF auction catalog), the event will feature:
- DJ Tess Unger spinning tunes
- Live Music from the Club Crasherz
- A photo booth with a classic car as a backdrop, thanks to Lower Rockridge resident Ben Smith and Peralta photographers Wendi Nordeck, Dennis Warsen, and Ian Martin
- Food prepared by Peralta’s own Sophina Uong and BZM Catering. Full menu coming soon!
Childcare: While the parents are revving it up at the auction, Peralta after-school staff will be providing childcare at the school from 4:30-9:30pm. The $5 childcare tickets include pizza, drinks and a movie! There is room for 75 kids (age 5+). Obviously, there is not room for all kids at the school, so tickets are first-come, first-served. The hope is that some of you will arrange swaps with other families not at the school, or make alternate arrangements for childcare if it is easy for you to do so
Auction Forms: Thinking of hosting a party, or donating to the auction? If you missed the February 12 deadline, never fear. You can still get your donation in (though it won’t appear in the printed catalog). You can donate using our online forms:

Class Projects
Some of the most loved and highly prized items at the auction are the class projects and baskets. This year’s class gifts are no exception:
Mystery Piñata from Linda Thomas’ Class- what wonderful gifts are inside this colorful piñata? The lucky winner will find out! Assortment of tickets and gift cards inside. Mystery Piñata can be reused for kid’s party if the grown-up gifts are gently removed.
FUROSHIKI from Ms. Larsen’s class: Furoshiki is the ancient and beautiful Japanese art of gift wrapping with cloth. Turns out the Japanese were green long before we ever thought of it! Ms. Larsen’s 2nd grade students, together with Ellen Oppenheimer, have designed and dyed 7 silk squares (30″x30″ and 17″x17″) to be used for gift wrapping–or any other purpose you deem fit! Included is the lovely book Wrapagami, on the subject of Furoshiki. Gorgeous, unusual and one-of-a-kind gift giving awaits!
A “Day at the Beach” gift bag from Ms. Stewart’s class: The gift bag includes everything your family needs for a great day at the beach.
