California Test Scores Released

There is much more to our students and to Peralta than just test scores. That said, we are proud that Peralta’s 2009 API score of 892 was among the highest in Oakland Unified. Peralta students also did very well on the  2009 CST scores. This test is administered to grades 2 through 5.

Principal Costello has created a brief preliminary narrative on the results. Greatschools.net also lists the data. There is data for each grade in subject areas including English language arts, math, and science. In addition, there is analysis on how students from different ethnic and socioeconomic groups performed compared to each other. The testing period can be a very stressful time for all involved, and everyone should be proud of their efforts.

Peralta’s African-American API Tops 800 — Again

For the third year in a row Peralta’s African-American students API scores are above 800. Three years ago, Peralta was 1 of 6 schools statewide with this distinction. Last year, Peralta was 1 of 22. This year, we tied for 7th among schools with similar demographics. Both Peralta and Grass Valley Elementary made the list from Oakland Unified School District.

Peralta’s African-American students had an API score of 849, an increase of 36 points over last year. Peralta strives to lead the way in eliminating the achievement gap altogether.
