Check out the new video made by last year's 4th graders with artist-in-residence Trena Noval and UC Berkeley Mycologist Mia Rose Maltz:
The sun is out, the mornings are light and Wednesday, April 6 is another Walk/Bike/Roll/Bus/Train/Carpool-to-School Day. If you drive, consider parking a few blocks from school and walking the rest of the way with your kids. Stop by the prize table on your way in—there will be free goodies!
This is a free event. In fact I will give you something back. I am not asking for your money, blood, sweat or tears, just a little extra effort to minimize the vehicle traffic to school.

Even if all of Governor Brown’s proposals make it onto the June special election ballot and are approved by California voters, K-12 schools will still lose $19/student under current funding formulas. You can see the presentation made to the School Board last week at 2011-2012 Budget Development. Now more than ever it is critical for the K-12 education community to speak loudly and united!
Join Assemblymember Nancy Skinner and School Board Member Jody London at the California Budget Challenge, a hands-on activity that lets you decide how to balance the state budget. This interactive presentation allows you to choose how much to spend on schools, health services, prisons, the environment, and other state programs—and how to pay for them. Participants vote on policy options that affect the budget in real-time with instant response clickers.
Give Assemblymember Nancy Skinner the budget feedback that she needs to take back to Sacramento.
