Adam Williams
Adam Williams

A Senseless Loss

The entire Peralta Community is in mourning over the tragic death of Adam Williams in a random shooting early Monday morning. Peralta children looked forward to playing with Mr. Adam every day in our P.E.A.C.E. after-school program, where he patiently threw football passes, taught them basketball skills, helped with gardening and made sure homework got done. As P.E.A.C.E. site director Sherice Tyler told the Chronicle, "Adam had such an impact on students' lives as well as the adults he encountered."

Adam was deeply connected to Peralta. He attended school here in the mid-90s, and his mother, June Edwards Wilson, is a longtime member of the support staff. His stepfather Prince Wilson is a former Peralta janitor.

Our hearts go out to Adams' family, and especially to his mother and his 4-year-old son Amari.

A family friend has set up a memorial fund to help the family: http://bit.ly/fReXcQ.
